This Week in Calvinism - February 3, 2012

  1. Dr. Olson apparently hasn't heard any of Shane Rosenthal's Evangelical-on-the-street interviews where answers like "I haven't heard of the doctrine of amputation" expose the lack of teaching in most evangelical churches (no doubt mostly some form of Arminian). I'm not saying that the WHI guys ridicule the interview subjects, in fact, they go out of their way to be gentle. But if an Arminian were to hear them, I'm certain he would think WHI is being mean.

He also adds "My problem is when Calvinism becomes popular in contexts where it is not historically the norm and then is promoted as THE only truly biblical view. In such non-confessional contexts (e.g., many Baptist churches)" No doubt this is his version of the old canard that ignores the influence that the LBCF had on many of the founders of the Southern Baptist Convention.
