This Week in Calvinism - July 8, 2011

  • Finally, at long last, someone uses scripture to refute Calvinism! OK, not really: "Blah, blah, blah, here are a few isolated verses refuting Calvinism, blah, blah, blah, Calvinists are dominionists, blah, blah, blah, Servetus, blah, blah, blah, Spurgeon wasn't really a Calvinist, blah, blah, blah," and so on.

  • Did you know that America's "national religion, an ugly mix of Calvinism and evangelical Christianity, is the ultimate expression of greed and manifestation of death wishes which destroys any human love for the poor and down-trodden"? I didn't either.

  • A debate between Arminian Dr. Phil Fernandes and Calvinist Chris Comis.

  • Southern Baptists and Calvinism: Can't we all just get along?

  • Amid accusations from former leaders at Sovereign Grace, C. J. Mahaney takes a leave of absence.

  • Two tensions in Jonathan Edwards's view of history.

  1. "Servetus, blah, blah, blah ..."

I'm still laughing; seriously, that was hilarious! I'm with you guys: the Servetus charge is lame.

If someone as mild-mannered as Melanchthon could give his hearty Amen! to the Servetus affair, no doubt most of us would have as well.
