Atheist Penn Jillette on Proselytizing

If you're familiar at all with Penn Jillette, the vocal half of the famous magic and comedy duo Penn & Teller, you know that he is a very outspoken atheist who has never shied away from ridiculing the Bible or Christianity. So, you can imagine my surprise when I saw this:
Interesting and convicting.

  3. Hmmmm. The man was, Jillette says, "a good man." Wonder what he means by "good"? Scripture tells us, indeed the Lord tells us, that none are good but God.

  4. Wow, that's one of the best videos on "The Internets."

  5. John, regarding "good." You are absolutely right. We can pick apart Jillette's theology and show how wrong he is about that, but it doesn't accomplish anything.

For that matter, he thought Psalms was in the New Testament just because the Gideons put it there. What a dope, right?

    I'm just kidding.

It seems to me Jillette was moved by this man because this man loves Jillette so much, he wants him in heaven.

Maybe this man wants to make sure there are some real kick-ass Vegas style shows. :)

If I really love someone, I want to do everything I can to keep them out of harm's way. Jillette caught this sentiment.

All this sort-of reminds me of Ghandi's indictment of Christians when he said, "Oh, I don't reject your Christ. I love your Christ. It's just that so many of you Christians are so unlike your Christ."

  6. John, I agree, but I certainly don't expect an atheist to define "good" from a biblical perspective.

  7. This says more about sharing the Gospel than any conference I have attended. Pray a seed was planted.
NICE COUNTS, Goodness, and mercy in the man are reflections of his Savior.

  8. Awesome stuff. Yes Jillette's theology is flawed. He is an atheist, but he gets the whole sharing the gospel thing. He gets it more than the majority of Christians in America. Maybe this man is the first instrument God is using to change Jillette's heart. Let us pray for Jillette.

  9. Wow! Thanks for sharing that Lee. And much, much, much, much deep thanks to Penn Jillette for recording this and being honest in his thinking.
