Needless to say, this should make for an interesting conference.

Interesting idea.
The only problem I have with an honest yet harsh approach is that we are sinful, God is not. I guess it's fair to argue that the men God used to speak his word were sinful too. However, I have seen a lot of damage done by someone who is not afraid to speak hard words, but can also misinterpret people's words or intentions. Usually the hard words are taken well and to heart to make us aware of sin, but sometimes they hurt beyond repair. I know that he means to point people to Christ and godliness, but I don't think he even knows that he doesn't have gentleness.
"That doctrine that is called 'Calvinist' did not spring from Calvin; we believe that it sprang from the great founder of all truth." -Charles H. Spurgeon
