How Do I Know If I Am Elect?

Stephen Doe tries to answer this question as succinctly as possible—and I think he does a pretty good job:
When people first begin to learn about the biblical doctrine of election, one question that often occurs to them is, "Am I elect?" And the more they think about whether or not they are elect, the more uncertain they become. So, if you believe in the doctrine of election, how do you know if you are elect?

The answer is really quite simple: You continue believing in Christ.
For a more detailed explanation, read the rest of the article here.

Interestingly, I have had some discussions that led to this very question. The "Free Will" bunch are so opposed to any view of salvation which is totally in God's sovereign hands that they often become quite belligerent. I like this answer very much. Thank you for posting this.

You're welcome, and thanks for your comments. It is one of the simplest explanations I've seen on the subject, and I think it sums it up perfectly.

Do l sin because l am a sinner or am l a sinner because l sin? On judgement day when l stand before the Lord will l say ' l am innocent because you created me to go to Hell not giving me a free will to choose you? Or l am guilty of sin before l ever sin so l can't be held accountable since actions or will don't matter right Lord
